The Scoop
The Pico Boulevard cafe opened in 2024 and is the one that pushed Amai beyond the South Bay. Van Corrales brought the idea to Vicki Vo and Edward Chiang after seeing how well the Torrance shop ran, took over the unit Rocco's Cheesecake had given up, and had the doors open within three months of signing. This address keeps the widest coffee program of the four: Sightglass Owls Howl on espresso, a rotating Cognoscenti single origin on pourover, and bags from Little Wolf and Onyx on the retail shelf that sell out quickly. The matcha we would order here is the Matcha Tonic, ceremonial matcha over Fever-Tree tonic water. Strawberry Matcha, Blueberry Matcha and the Matcha Einspanner are all here too, alongside a Sugarbloom pastry program and cheesecake still made by Rocco's. The room was built around an open seating area meant to get people talking, there are outlets, and it opens at 7am on weekdays and 8am at weekends, closing at 6pm.
