Privacy Policy

Last updated 25 August 2026

Matcha Guide is a free guide to matcha cafés in Los Angeles. This page explains what happens to information when you use it. The short version is that we ask for very little and keep less.

We have no accounts

There is nothing to sign up for. We do not ask for your name, your email address or a password, and we do not run a newsletter or a contact form.

Your location stays in your browser

Some parts of the site can sort cafés by how near they are to you. When you use one, your browser asks your permission to share your location.

If you allow it, the coordinates are used inside your browser to work out distances and are never sent to us or to anyone else. We do not store them and we never see them. If you refuse, everything still works and the listings simply appear in alphabetical order instead. You can change your mind at any time in your browser settings.

Analytics

We use a third-party analytics service to understand roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets cookies and collects the usual technical information: pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, the type of device and browser you are using, and where you arrived from.

We use this only to decide what to work on next. We do not use it to identify you and we do not sell or share it. You can block cookies in your browser to opt out.

Services that deliver this site

Third-party services host the site and serve its map tiles. Both receive your IP address as a normal part of delivering a web page, and both handle it under their own privacy policies. Map tiles are requested by your browser based on the area shown on screen.

Other sites

We link out to café websites, Instagram, ordering platforms and press coverage. Once you follow a link you are on somebody else’s site and their privacy policy applies, not ours.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Because we hold no accounts and no personal records, there is normally nothing for us to look up, correct or delete. If you believe we hold something about you, or you want a photograph or a listing removed, get in touch and we will deal with it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If we ever start collecting something new, it will be described here before it starts.
