The Scoop
Yeems Coffee soft-opened in January 2022 in Koreatown's Wilshire Center, and it is a large part of why Los Angeles now knows what Vienna-style coffee is. The format is a cream top: a house-made cream sitting over whatever is underneath, which you shake before drinking so the two meet properly. The Vienna Matcha puts freshly whisked matcha under it with a drizzle of matcha syrup, and the Vienna Black does the same over an americano with a shot of agave. The matcha is Nekohama, and the flavored builds are where the board stretches out, with blueberry, coconut, mango and a rose version all on it alongside a plain matcha tea for anybody who wants it unadorned. Espresso comes off a Slayer, which tells you where the priorities sit. Two rooms carry the name now, the Koreatown original and a second down in Gardena. Lines happen at both, and we have never once minded.
