The Scoop
Alfred opened on San Vicente on September 3, 2018, and it came in as a tea room, the first in the group to put soft serve on the menu. That gives the Brentwood address a different brief from the coffee bars, and we think the matcha is better for it. The San Vicente stretch is one of the Westside's favorite morning walks, and a 6 am opening puts Alfred ahead of almost everything else on it. My order here is the Matcha Cloud Cream, which arrives under vanilla cloud cream in organic dairy or coconut. The iced matcha lavender latte is worth a look too, built on housemade lavender syrup with a tea of French lavender and butterfly pea.
