FEBE sits on Yale Avenue in Irvine, close enough to UC Irvine that the student crowd has adopted it, and the university paper has written it up. The Ube Matcha Einspanner is the order, layered matcha and ube for seven dollars, and reviewers have gone further than they usually do about it. Seating runs indoors and out with stools, benches and a mix of tables, and it is properly laptop-friendly, which in a university town matters as much as the drinks. Junbi and La La Land both have Irvine rooms, so the city now supports a three-cafe matcha route. We would start at FEBE.
