The Scoop
Go Get Em Tiger grew out of a bar-style idea that Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski worked out first as G&B, a pop-up inside Sqirl in Virgil Village in 2012. Both had already taken the United States Barista Championship, and both had come up through Intelligentsia. G&B took a permanent counter in Grand Central Market in May 2013, and the first cafe under the Go Get Em Tiger name opened on Larchmont Boulevard about a month after that. Los Feliz followed in 2016, the Arts District and Highland Park together in 2018, and the group brought roasting in-house that same year. Eight rooms run across the city now. The current matcha list is deliberately short: a water-based Matcha Americano and a steamed-milk Matcha Latte. The coffee list rotates through single origins with tasting notes printed alongside them, so there is always something new on. Bar-style service is still the format at most of them, which means the person making your drink is the person you talk to. We find the food has grown up alongside it into proper breakfast and lunch at the larger rooms.
