The Scoop
Urth arrived on East Colorado Boulevard in 2012, the newest of the original California cafes, in the middle of the Old Pasadena blocks. It keeps the flagship hours, 7 am to 10 pm and an hour later on Friday and Saturday. Old Pasadena rewards an evening walk, and a matcha that late is what we would build one around. Everything here starts from the ceremonial grade Wazuka matcha that Akihiro Nakai and his family harvest for Urth every spring in the Uji district. The Rising Sun Matcha Latté puts espresso underneath it, the Matcha Macchiato keeps it simple, and the Monkey Granita is the blended one. Alfred and the wider Colorado Boulevard coffee run are a short walk away.
